On November 3rd 2009, Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Houston and the Indonesian Ladies Association in collaboration with the Breast Cancer Network of Strenght Texas Gulf Coast; and the Rose, a Non-Profit Organization with a mission to increase public awareness on breast cancer have held a workshop on breast cancer and a free mammography check for public. The free mammography check was provided by the Breast Cancer Network of Strenght Texas Gulf Coast using its Mobile System for High Image Quality Screening Mammography. During the workshop the attendace listened to a presentation from a Ms. Bao Huong Hoang, the Outreach Coordinator for Breast Cancer Network of Strenght Texas Gulf Coast.

On 8 October 2009, 38 members of the St. Dunstan’s Senior Group of Houston with some also members of the Museum of Fine Arts of Houston, and Fellowship of St. Dunstan Episcopal Church have visited the Indonesian Cultural Center at the Consulate General of Indonesia for a guided tour of the center which exhbit collections of Indonesian arts. On 27 October 2009, 11 members of the Houston Episcopalian 50 Plus have also visited the Indonesian Cultural Center for the tour. Pada tanggal 20 s/d 22 November 2009 KJRI Houston telah berpartisipasi pada acara Mobile International Festival di Negara Bagian Alabama yang diselenggarakan di Mobile Civic Center, City of Mobile, Alabama. Pelaksanaan Mobile International Festival ini adalah yang ke 26 kalinya diadakan di kota Mobile dan menjadi salah satu event budaya terbesar dan merupakan kegiatan utama yang diselenggarakan setiap tahun di Negara Bagian Alabama. Pelaksanaan Mobile International Festival tahun ini mengambil tema “The World in Musical Harmony”.

Pada tanggal 16 Januari 2010 Konsul Muda Pensosbud KJRI Houston Jodi Mahardi telah menghadiri pelaksanaan acara Malam Indonesia ‘Taste of the Tropics’ yang diadakan oleh Indonesian-American Society of Florida (INASOF) di Lake Worth, Florida. Acara tersebut juga dihadiri kurang lebih 200 orang masyarakat Indonesia dan keluarga yang menetap di wilayah Florida.
DONATION FROM TURKISH COMMUNITY IN HOUSTON FOR THE VICTIMS OF WEST SUMATERA EARTHQUAKE
On Thursday, January 28, 2010 the President of Raindrop Turkish House of Houston, Mr. Mehmed Okumus met with the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Houston, Hon. Kria Fahmi Pasaribu to give the donation made by the Turkish Community in Houston for the victims of West Sumatera Earthquake. The donation in the amount of US$ 5.000 were given in the form of check through the Consulate. The aid then will be channeled through the Indonesian government account set up for the victims of West Sumatera earthquake.
